The School’s Career Guidance Department and the OA Club offer a range of career guidance and university events each year to help pupils learn about career options, make decisions about GCSE, A-Level and university subjects, and gain skills essential for securing employment and for succeeding in the world of work. We are always looking for OAs to help out at these events.

OAs can volunteer on a panel to answer questions from 6th form students and host 30-min small group discussion sessions focused on their profession.  This event is invaluable to 6th form students and is a brilliant opportunity for OAs to share knowledge and experience that will help sixth formers decide upon their own career paths. Abingdon Careers Convention

Thursday 14 March 2024, 6.30pm – 9.00pm, Our Lady’s Abingdon

The annual Abingdon Independent Schools’ Careers Convention, jointly run by Abingdon School, Our Lady’s Abingdon and St Helen and St Katharine, provides an excellent opportunity for students to gather information about occupations of interest and educational routes into those occupations from a variety of working ‘career representatives’. It features parents and alumni of all three schools, as well as local employers, representing a wide range of career areas. Students can meet with ‘career representatives’ one to one or in small group discussions and attend presentations. The event is greatly valued by students and parents alike. For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Michael Triff at [email protected] or 01235 849129.
