Nine Lower Sixth formers and two members of staff travelled to Moldova in Eastern Europe at the start of the summer holidays for the ninth annual Moldova Project trip.
After spending four days in the village of Ialoveni where they found out more about everyday life in Moldova by staying with Moldovan families and spent time at the Agape Community Centre organising games and activities for local children, the group travelled by minibus to Lacu Rosu in Romania to run a summer camp for a group of 24 young Moldovans. The team organised sports and games, art activities, and did plenty of English teaching. They also enjoyed walks in the stunning scenery of the Carpathian Mountains, travelled to a disused saltmine that had been converted into an underground playground, and took the younger children rowing on the lake. The final evening saw "Lacu Rosu's Got Talent" in which the Moldovan and English groups put on a varied display of singing, dancing and comedy sketches. When it came time to say goodbye, it was very clear that both groups had greatly enjoyed and been affected by their time together.
