The 1st Eight competed at the Metropolitan Regatta held at Dorney Lake. The crew lined up alongside two brothers (OA’s) in their heat with Rory Copus coxing Oxford Brookes and Andy Hatzis racing for Newcastle.
The sibling rivalry added an extra incentive and the crew performed strongly to lead from start to finish in their heat to set up a much anticipated final against Eton’s 1st Eight who were winners of the other heat.
In the final, the crew were disappointed that Eton decided not to contest the event leaving the 1st Eight to dominate from start to finish and win the impressive Forster Cup for Intermediate 1 Eights.
