London revisited

14 October 2010

Lower sixth geographers visited the London 2012 Olympic Sites and Docklands as part of their AS studies investigating urban renewal and regeneration, uppermost in their minds being an assessment of the legacy impact that the huge developments will have for this area in the future.

Over the past few years, NJOD and RSS have put together an impressive and dynamic itinerary for the day that illustrates the amazing transformations that are taking place in this part of London. A little like the poor homeless farmers in the Ganges delta who can’t locate where their fields are from year to year following the annual floods, so it is in this part of London that the geography annually changes out of all recognition. I am grateful to MDP and JSB for their contribution and help in the smooth running of the trip this year.
