Library Policy

  1. To provide a varied source of learning materials for staff and pupils for use by individuals, small groups and whole classes, in response to the needs of the curriculum, general learning and recreational interests.
  2. To encourage boys to practise reading and research skills and to become confident and independent in their habits of study.
  3. To deliver an information skills programme integrated with the curriculum.
  4. To provide a database of learning and teaching materials in the library and departmental libraries.
  5. To provide a stimulating and congenial environment for reading and research.
  6. To acquire and disseminate information on available resources.
  7. To provide computer facilities to support staff and students’ needs.
  8. To be aware of current resources available online; select the most appropriate to the school’s needs and to deliver appropriate training for use of these resources.
  9. To consult with and support teaching staff on the selection of materials appropriate to their learning objectives.
  10. To provide a source of development for pupil librarians.
