Junior Chess Tournament

Ten Abingdon players competed at the Wiltshire Junior Open Chess Championships, four in the Beginners' and six in the Intermediates' Section.

In the Beginners' Section, Daniel Lawson (1JAC) and Thomas Shaw (1JAC) both ended on 4/6, earning medals as the best U11 and U12 competitors respectively. Harry Walsh (1SCVM) also scored a respectable 3/6.

In the Intermediates' Section, Ray Ren (2HFCP) was joint second in the U13s on 4/6. The best Abingdon U14 was Leon Wu (3CFC) who ended on 4/6, just ahead of Michael Jiang (3CFC) on 3.5/6 and Rafi'i al-Akiti (3JSW) on 3/6.

Peter Claassen (1SCVM), Benjamin Massey-Leahy (3RP) and Benjamin Schneider (3CFC) also gained valuable tournament experience.
