5th year graphic design students enjoyed a day centred around "character development" working with illustrator and author, Joanna Harrison. Joanna began the day by talking about her work and showing original drawings for her children's books, and animation cells from films such as 'The Snow Man'. The boys were impressed by the amount of work and skill shown. Joanna stressed the importance of really getting inside and understanding an illustrated character. The boys then worked to model some of their own characters in Plasticine before beginning drawings from these. With Joanna's help and inspiration the boys made some very exciting work. Once again having the extra long time to develop ideas made a huge difference to the progress and momentum developing on this project.
