U14 County Championships

The U14s ventured to Oxford Hawks for their County Championships, although the squad had been hit by some illness the boys played exceptionally well, drawing and winning their group stage games. This led to a final between them and MCS, with the scores locked at the final whistle, the game went to flicks, with Abingdon unfortunately, narrowly missing out on going through as first qualifiers. They boys will have one more qualifying game after half term to see if they can reach the regional rounds.

Shiplake

The 2nds and 3rds recorded excellent victories against Shiplake on Wednesday winning 8-0 and 3-0 respectively. The U15Bs and U14Bs recorded excellent wins, playing against Shiplake's U15 As and U15Bs, both teams winning by 3 goals.

Dragon

The Lower School played The Dragon last Wednesday, with four matches against a tough opposition, the boys were looking forward to a close. The U12B VII played some great hockey, moving the ball early and sweeping aside their opposition 6-1. The best result of the day came from our U13A VII, who performed magnificently, and won 3-2 against a very good Dragon side. Well done to all those involved.

Bloxham

Last Saturday saw 14 teams play Bloxham School. With all teams from U12 Bs to the 1st XI competing it proved to be a wonderful afternoon of hockey.

The Lower School performed fantastically well in the morning, recording two victories and two losses against well organised Bloxham teams.

The U14As continued their unbeaten ISHL run, winning convincingly in an 8-1 victory. One of the most pleasing results was the U14Bs, playing some great hockey and winning 5-1 despite being down to 11 players. The U14Cs added a clean sweep of victories for the U14 age group, winning 1-0.

The U15s also played some flowing hockey, with excellent defending and fluid attacking, the As and Bs won 5-0 and 4-0. The U15Cs, played well but unfortunately could not quite come up with the winning formula.

The U16As, played as a strong unit, with some pace upfront they caused Bloxham some trouble, winning 5-0. The Seniors all continued their rich vein of form. The 3rds ran out 6-1 winners, the 2nds won 6-0 and the 1sts remain unbeaten winning 4-2.

Overall a fantastic block for Abingdon, winning 11 of the 14 games, scoring 30 and conceding 11.

Abingdon Hockey Club goes into half term with the U14As, U14Bs, U15As, U15Bs and the 1st XI still unbeaten. A fantastic start to the hockey season, with many more difficult games coming up after half term, it is going to be an awesome second half of the term.
