32 boys successfully completed their Gold assessed Duke of Edinburgh's Award expedition on the Isle of Arran. The conditions were very mixed with some very heavy persistent rain as well as sunny spells. Most groups climbed Goat Fell at 874m. Groups saw lots of wildlife while on their challenging, often remote, routes including red deer, sea otters, adders and one group emerged from their tents one morning to see a pod of dolphins just off shore. Despite the difficult terrain, miges and ticks all boys gained an excellent sense of achievement at the end of the expedition and enjoyed a traditional haggis dinner when they returned to the youth hostel.
