A group of 17 Abingdon fourth year boys along with 13 girls from the School of St Helen and St Katharine spent 8 days in Bielefeld on the German exchange. The boys were hosted by pupils from Ratsgymnasium in Bielefeld. In addition to spending time with their partners in school, the pupils visited the local towns of Bremen and Münster, went ice-skating, took part in an Anglo-German theatre project and visited Dr Oetker Welt.

This year represents the 50th anniversary of the exchange between Ratsgymnasium and Abingdon School. In honour of this occasion, a special celebration (“Festakt”) was held which included performances by our First Orchestra and speeches by the Heads from Abingdon, St Helen’s and Ratsgymnasium.

Both the exchange and the Festakt were a resounding success. Details of next year's German exchange will be published shortly to third year Germanists.
