Abingdon is hosting this year's German exchange party - eighteen boys and girls from the Ratsgymnasium in Bielefeld and their teachers Dr Marli Schütze and Frau Sylvia Geuting. The group have been enjoying their time in school, being treated to a talk on the history of the school by our archivist Mrs Sarah Wearne, a lesson on Shakespeare with Mr Kevin Carson and even their first taste of Mandarin with Ms Lina Man. The group have also been out on various excursions, including a day at the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth and a visit to Keble College and the Natural History Museum in Oxford. After a weekend with their host families they will travel to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit Shakespeare's birthplace and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Company, stopping off at Warwick Castle on the way. The away leg of the exchange, now in its 45th consecutive year, will take place in February 2012.
