Film Unit successes

19 February 2012

James Yan's 2011 film Inside today won the prestigious "Best Fiction Film" Award at the Future Film Festival in London. The festival, held at the National Film Theatre / BFI Southbank, champions the best new talent in the country. James's powerful film - an original drama about domestic violence - featured an outstanding performance from former St Helen's pupil Charly Clive, as well as professional adult actors, and was chosen from over 150 fiction films. The film can now be viewed on the Abingdon Film Unit web site.

We also received news of a further film success, this time for the animated film The Art of Crime at the 2012 Animex Awards. The 2011 film, made by Michael Bicarregui, Chris Mears, Oliver Sayeed and Chris Young was shortlisted and screened at the Animex Awards at Teeside University earlier this month. The judges are currently deciding which films will win awards, so watch this space for further news.
