ESU Debating Success

23 November 2011

At last, an outright win for our senior debaters! Will Hewstone and Laurence Copson represented the school in the opening round of the English Speaking Union's national debating competition. They were pitted against a team from Radley College, who were proposing the motion that 'This house would make organ donation compulsory without exception'. The debate was lively, but with their strong arguments and steadfast defence of liberal principles, Abingdon emerged victorious and will now progress to the next round of the competition.

The competition was kindly hosted by St Helen's School, and it was an extra cause for celebration that the SHSK team of debaters also won their debate and will be progressing to the next round.
