English Speaking Union Competition

15 November 2011

Abingdon was represented at the prestigious and long running Public Speaking Competition by an able team of fifth formers. Edmund Cornforth spoke on the motion 'Cars should be banned in cities', and was praised for his strong argument. Meanwhile, Michael Bicarregui acted as our Chair, with Thomas Munro taking on the role of Questioner. We competed against teams from MCS, Radley, St Helen's, D'Overbroeck's, and Chenderit. Michael Bicarregui won Best Chair, and was praised for his exceptional authority in the role, while Thomas Munro (for the second year running) took the position of Best Questioner.
