Friday 21st September
Today saw the launch of this year's "Be the Best you can be" campaign in Lower School with a truly inspirational presentation from Mark Hatton, Commonwealth gold medallist and six-times British champion in the luge, and Britain's fastest ever Olympian in any sport, with a top speed of 86.7 mph. Mark's story of how he overcame many obstacles (not least the fact that there are no luge circuits in the UK!) to compete at two Winter Olympics served as an excellent example to the boys of what you can achieve when you set yourself targets and really push yourself to achieve them. After the talk many of the boys got the chance to sit in the luge and try out some of the other equipment - perhaps there might be an Abingdonian competing at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea?
