Badminton vs King’s School Bruton

20 March 2010

The first match of this term was to have been against King's School Bruton but it had to be postponed because of the snow: in a kind of scriptural symmetry we were able to rearrange it as the last.

Although Richard Moon and Ramon Bonfield were already committed to a half marathon on March 21 enough of the front line players were available to make a strong 'A' team. Unusually the format was two singles games and one doubles but the 'A's had matters well in hand and won 11 out of 15 games.

There wasn't as much meat on the bone in the 'B' team; Jonathan Chung demoted himself from top dog because of a sore shoulder and Mark Lee moved from reserve to player number six - he doesn't like singles much but made a very productive doubles partner for James Zhou. Fortunes were even until the very end but Abingdon got 8 games to Bruton's 7.
